The short version
Quickshort runs on your machine. Screenshots, annotations, OCR results, and settings stay local. Three kinds of traffic exist: an image you share, a bug report you send, and a daily update check against GitHub Releases. The app has no analytics, no tracking, and no accounts.
What stays on your device
- Captures and saved PNGs (
~/Pictures/Quickshort, or your configured directory) - Settings, hotkeys, and window preferences (
~/.config/quickshort/) - OCR results. Recognition runs on your device: Apple Vision on macOS, Windows.Media.Ocr on Windows, Tesseract on Linux. No image or text goes to a cloud OCR service.
What leaves your device
Share link
Pressing Share uploads that one image, encoded as WebP, to
a Cloudflare Worker (quickshort-share). The worker stores it in
Workers KV and returns a random 128-bit URL (/s/<id>.webp).
Anyone holding the link can view the image until it expires.

Limits are 12 MB per upload and 30 shares per IP per day. Shared images are not indexed or listed anywhere. The unguessable ID is the only protection, so treat a share link as public: fine for a screenshot you would post anyway, wrong for secrets.
Bug report
The report form sends your app version, OS and architecture, a diagnostics
bundle, and your note to the quickshort-report worker, which
files it as a public GitHub issue on
truongnat/quickshort. The issue is visible to everyone and stays
up, so keep secrets and private screenshots out of the note.
Update check
At most once a day the app queries
api.github.com/repos/truongnat/quickshort/releases/latest to
compare versions. GitHub sees the request's IP and user-agent. Turn it off
with auto_update = false in config.toml.
Third parties
- Cloudflare runs the share and report workers and stores shared images. Its standard edge request logs apply.
- GitHub serves release downloads, update checks, public issues, and this site (GitHub Pages).
- This website loads fonts from Google Fonts. The app itself loads no remote resources.
What we don't collect
No analytics, telemetry, or crash reporting unless you send a report yourself. No accounts and no email collection. Shared images are deleted on schedule, not kept. Nothing is sold or given to advertisers.
Your controls
- Nothing uploads unless you press Share or send a bug report.
- A shared link expires on its own. Deleting your local copy under
shared/does not affect it. - To remove a public bug report or a shared image early, open an issue on GitHub and it gets deleted.

- Báo lỗi gồm version, OS, diagnostics và ghi chú bạn nhập, đăng thành một GitHub issue công khai. Đừng dán mật khẩu hay token vào đó.
- Kiểm tra cập nhật là một request tới GitHub Releases; GitHub thấy IP của bạn. Muốn tắt thì đặt
auto_update = falsetrongconfig.toml. - OCR chạy ngay trên máy (Vision trên macOS, Windows.Media.Ocr trên Windows, Tesseract trên Linux). Ảnh và chữ không đi đâu cả.
